What we collect, and why

You can read everything on Family Film Guide without an account, and without being tracked. We run no advertising, no analytics scripts, and no tracking cookies, and we never sell or share personal information for marketing.

If you create an account

We store the name you choose, your email address, and your password. Passwords are stored only as a one-way cryptographic hash — we cannot read them. Reviewers additionally have a public profile with a photo and a short bio, which they provide themselves.

Signing in sets one cookie, used only to keep you signed in. For each active sign-in we record the IP address and browser it came from; you can see and end your own sessions at any time from your account page.

What you write

Reviews, reports, and tag suggestions are stored with your account. Published reviews appear on the site — reviewer reviews under their public profile, community reviews under the name on the account. Moderation decisions are logged so we can supervise our own moderators.

Email

We email you to confirm your address, to reset your password, and — if a moderator invited you — to deliver the invitation. Messages are delivered through Resend, our email provider, which processes your address for that purpose only.

Services we rely on

Film details and poster images come from TMDb. Posters load directly from TMDb's servers, so when a page shows one, your browser makes a request to TMDb, which sees your IP address the same way any image host does. We also use an error-monitoring service (Honeybadger) so we hear about crashes; error reports can include the details of the request that failed.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep account data while the account exists. Ask us to delete your account and we will remove it along with your personal details; you may choose whether your published reviews are deleted with it or kept without your name attached. Requests go to contact@familyfilmguide.net.

Children

The site is written for parents. Accounts are for adults; we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and material changes will be noted on the site.
